Introduction to Facilitating Improvement Workshops
Our intensive one day workshop is for Continuous Improvement practitioners seeking to enhance skills, build confidence and achieve the best possible outcomes from team based work. The programme is focussed on facilitation and workshop skills in the context of some of the core tools and techniques used in the Lean and Lean-Six Sigma methodologies. Case studies, real-world examples, videos, exercises and team-based discussions are used to bring the learning to life.

Who is this course for?
This training is suitable for all continuous improvement practitioners – those leading projects, running workshops or Kaizen events, undertaking problem solving, or anyone who works with others to get things done. Some knowledge of continuous improvement tools will be assumed; e.g. problem statements, process maps and SIPOC diagrams. The content covers the spectrum from basic to advanced thinking, therefore adds value to facilitators at every level.
Outcomes
Upon completion of the Facilitation Skills for Continuous Improvement workshop, participants will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
- Improved Facilitation Skills: Participants will have gained an understanding of the role of a facilitator and the key skills required to facilitate effective workshops and meetings. They will have learned how to prepare for, open, and close workshops, and how to engage participants in problem-solving activities.
- Enhanced Workshop Management: Participants will have developed skills in workshop management, including how to create an agenda, manage time effectively, and use appropriate tools and materials to facilitate group activities.
- Knowledge of Best Practice use of Lean Six Sigma Tools and Techniques: Participants will have gained an understanding of how to most effectively facilitate and lead use of core tools and techniques used in Lean and Lean-Six Sigma methodologies, including problem statements, process maps, and SIPOC diagrams.
- Improved Decision-Making: Participants will have developed skills in decision-making, including how to use different decision-making approaches and tools to support the decision-making process.
- Enhanced Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Participants will have developed their communication and interpersonal skills, including how to manage conflict and difficult behaviours in workshops and meetings.
- Increased Confidence: Participants will have gained confidence in their ability to facilitate effective workshops and meetings, and to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
Overall, this workshop will equip Continuous Improvement practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to optimise their contribution to their organisation’s improvement efforts.
